DMC Construction
Incorporated was founded in 1973 in Fresno, CA by its founder
and president Dan McAweeney upon graduation from California
State University at Fresno. During the late 1970’s through the
early 1980’s, DMC grew, becoming one of Central California’s
most active and well respected construction firms. Since its
inception, DMC has been involved in the construction of numerous
public works projects, office buildings, as well as other
commercial and industrial projects. |

In 1988, and again in
1989, DMC was ranked as one of the fastest growing privately
held companies in the United States. During this time, DMC
Construction expanded its business and geographic range from
Bakersfield to Stockton, as well as being awarded numerous
contracts on the west side of the San Joaquin Valley. DMC had a
mix of projects from public to private; the business continued
to grow.
During the late 1990’s, DMC’s owner, Dan McAweeney, made a
strategic decision to re-size the company and relocate all
operations from Fresno to the Monterey Peninsula. In 2001, DMC
Construction proudly finished construction on the company’s
first major job on the Monterey Peninsula, the Casa Palmero
complex and the renovations at The Beach & Tennis Club, both for
the Pebble Beach Company.
Since that time in addition to many private and commercial
projects, DMC has completed work on numerous public works
projects for various local municipalities and school districts.
Over the years, DMC’s corporate clients have included many
nationally recognized firms such as the Pebble Beach Company,
3M, Frito Lay, State Compensation Fund, Container Corporation of
America, the Catholic Diocese, State Farm Insurance, Cantisano
Foods and the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.
Today, DMC Construction’s reputation for quality, dependability,
and integrity is well established. Headquartered in Monterey, and serving Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito
counties, DMC is one of the area’s largest and most respected
building contractors. The company employs more than 150 workers,
including experienced construction managers, engineers,
carpenters and other craftsmen, using traditional building
skills and advanced construction technologies.
DMC
provides general construction and construction management
services. The company’s team of qualified construction and
design professionals manage public and private commercial
projects, as well as residential construction ranging from small
remodeling jobs to major public works and private projects. The
company is comprised of three separate divisions, Commercial,
Residential, and Restoration & Remodel, providing a complete
range of building services including: public works,
institutional, commercial, residential, tenant improvements,
emergency repairs and insurance restoration.
