DESCRIPTION:  Demolition of Existing Facilities and New Construction of a 33,000 SF Educational Bldg.  Driven pile foundation with a structural steel frame.

This Department of the State Architect (DSA) project consists of construction of a new two story, approximately 36,000 GSF instructional building on the Hartnell College West Campus. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, demolition of existing facilities, site grading, indicator pile program, production pile program, foundations, slab on grade, structural steel brace frame, veneer brick exterior skin, and curtain wall system. The interior will consist of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and all finishes.

The goal of the Project is to create a comprehensive, single location for learning assistance and tutorial services that is integrated with the programs in the LRC. The Project is required to conform to all applicable Federal and State regulations, including the California Code of Regulations (e.g. Titles 8, 19, 24, etc, and the Americans with Disabilities Act).

Challenges:
Coordinate the construction of a complex, state-of-the-art educational facility on an active campus. Install concrete pile system to overcome existing geological conditions while being sensitive to local community
neighbors.
