It is with mixed
emotions that DMC announces the departure of
Superintendent Nick White. Nick has been a loyal and
valued member of the DMC family for almost ten
years. It is with
mixed emotions only because we are deeply saddened
by his decision and yet, at the same time, very
excited for Nick and the opportunity that has
presented itself. Nick had the opportunity to work
closely with Damon Felice of Felice Consulting
Services on the construction of the Hartnell College
CALL building. During that project and since Damon
obviously recognized the knowledge, professionalism
and integrity that Nick demonstrates in everything
he does. Nick’s accomplishments with and for DMC
over the past decade are legendary. His work ethic,
smiling mug, big heart, and stupid jokes will be
sincerely missed. |

DMC is
proud to announce we have completed 500 days without
a lost time accident at the Presidio in
Monterey. Construction started on November 26, 2007
and will continue for another 200 working
days. Hitting 500 days without a lost time
accident is a huge accomplishment for any
project. These 500 days are not only for our DMC
employees but they are for our subcontractors as
well.
As we all
know this is not an easy goal to achieve. It has
been a lot of hard work
with extreme attention to detail regarding
safety. |

DMC Restoration and
Remodel had a busy month. With damaging winds and
rain hitting the Peninsula and nearby regions, the
R/R team activated several Emergency teams to handle
any and all calls. Deploying crews throughout the
area, DMC R/R successfully removed fallen trees from
houses, repaired water damaged and flooded homes and
mitigated all further water or wind damage. Working
around the clock, during the storms and for days
after, DMC R/R crews effectively assisted Carmel
Valley, Salinas, Santa Cruz and Monterey Peninsula
businesses and residents allowing for a prompt
return to normalcy without disruption to their
livelihoods. The October storms came as a warning.
Please make sure you are prepared for a wet and
windy winter. |

Steinbeck Elementary and Oscar Loya Elementary. The
schools were previously damaged by water intrusion
and presented a health risk due to the presence of
mold. DMC's job is to remove all traces of mold and
repair the defects that led to the water intrusion.
We are replacing finishes and performing upgrades to
bring the schools into compliance with all ADA
requirements. Scope of work for Steinbeck Elementary
is $4.3 million and Oscar Loya Elementary is $3.5

DMC recently completed
the design and construction of LallaGrill, a new
full service restaurant & bar across from the
multiplex in Del Monte Center. Stephen Lyon, acting
as both Project Manager and Project Designer, worked
with the client, tenant designer Riddell & Riddell,
kitchen designer Jemm Melton, and the drafting
services of WRD Architects to produce a unique
indoor/outdoor dining experience with a retro twist.
The team took an empty shell that once served as a
brokerage office and created dining and support
spaces that maximize the impact of high ceilings,
clean lines, frameless glass & stone, custom tensile
awnings, and a patio that incorporates a proprietary
planter system from Canada that allows plants to
grow directly out of a slate covered concrete wall. |
